Senior Night Against Amherst

Trinity 7 Amherst 8

We recognized our four seniors last night in their last regular season home game under a rainbow on Robin L. Sheppard Field:

WE LOVE OUR SENIORS!!

Senior Spotlight: Caite Irvine

Wise words from our seniors about their experiences as Trinity Women's Lacrosse players:

Senior attacker, #9, Caite Irvine

Major: American Studies

High School: The Hotchkiss School

Post Trinity Plans:  Working in Chatham for the summer, and then
really looking to put this American Studies major to good use...

Favorite Sports Quote:

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career.
I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the
game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again
in my life. And that is why I succeed.”  - Michael Jordan

Favorite Practice Drill:  5v4 Must Go

Why did you choose Trinity?  I remember a conversation I had with KP
before I applied, she told me I'd be lucky to learn from Ellen, Mish,
CJ and Bo, the four seniors my freshman year and that really stood out
to me.  My Dad went to Trinity and I was excited to go to a beautiful
school where I could get a good education and play two sports.

What does Trin Lax mean to you?

Trinity g-lax is this amazing family that extends past the current team to the most supportive alumae.  It
means loving, and valuing each person for what she brings to the team, on and off the field.  It is the closest, most supportive team that I've been lucky enough to be a part of, and I love everyone on it!  I
feel so lucky to be on a team that is dedicated to working hard everyday and committed to being the best.  It has been my favorite part of my time at Trinity where I've met my best friends and learned more
than I could've anywhere else.

Favorite Trin lax memory?  Ah, too many to choose from!  This season,
beating Middlebury up in Vermont was pretty sweet.

Any advice for your teammates?

Always look out for one another and keep in mind how lucky you are to have 20 plus girls always there for you, and remember to use them!  And obviously, enjoy every second on the turf because it goes by SO quickly!

Senior Spotlight: Liz Bruno

Wise words from our seniors about their experiences as Trinity Women's Lacrosse players:

Senior midfielder, #17, Co-Captain, Liz Bruno

Major: Psychology

High School: Brooks School

Post Trinity Plans: Working in Nantucket for the summer and then hopefully coaching and getting my masters in education in the fall.

Favorite Sports Quote:

The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don't play together, the club won't be worth a dime - Babe Ruth

Favorite Practice Drill:
Hmmm I like the Blue/Gold Bantam Drill even though gold always cheats haha

Why did you choose Trinity? A bunch of people from Brooks came to Trinity and spoke highly of it.  The balance between academics and athletics really drew me towards the school.  Also, after talking with KP I knew that this was the best fit for me.

What does Trin Lax mean to you?

Trinity lacrosse means family.  It is an amazing opportunity to play hard with and for your best friends every day.

Favorite Trin lax memory? Winning NESCACs last year

Any advice for your teammates?

Take full advantage of being part of such a special team.  Leave everything on the field and work hard for each other because the four years pass so fast.  Never give up and fight through the hard times together because all of your hard work will pay off. Have no regrets.

Senior Spotlight: Liza Beckler

Wise words from our seniors about their experiences as Trinity Women's Lacrosse players:

Senior Defender, #24, Co-Captain, Liza Beckler

Major:  Psychology, Minor: Classics

High School: Stone Ridge

Post Trinity Plans: Working in Nantucket for the summer and then hopefully moving to New York in the fall.

Favorite Sports Quote:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequete. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure." -Marianne Williamson

Favorite Practice Drill: Besides running the creighton fitness test (NOT), I'd have to say that I enjoy scrimmaging and 3 v. 2s.

Why did you choose Trinity? My older sister graduated from here in 2011 and so when I came to visit her I fell in love with the place.

What does Trin Lax mean to you?

Being able to do something you love with the people that you not only care about, but highly respect. For me, it is all about helping each other out in order to accomplish a common greater goal that benefits the entire team.

Favorite Trin lax memory? Winning NESCAC's last year and getting the 1st seed going into the NCAA tournament.

Any advice for your teammates?

To never give up on your teammates and always trust in them. If something is not going the way you planned it would, or if a game is not going so well, never lose faith in your teammates and instead continue to show confidence in yourself and bring it out in others as well until things begin to turn around.

Senior Spotlight: Madeleine Hardy

Wise words from our seniors about their experiences as Trinity Women's Lacrosse players:

Senior attacker, #25, Madeleine Hardy

Major: Biochemistry

High School:
Masconomet Regional High School (Topsfield, MA)

Post Trinity Plans: Hopefully become a research assistant post-graduation and potentially go to grad school

Favorite Sports Quote:
People don't play sports because it’s fun. Ask any athlete, most of them hate it, but they couldn't imagine their life without it. It’s part of them, the love/hate relationship. It’s what they live for. They live for the practices, parties, cheers, long bus rides, invitationals, countless pairs of different types of shoes, water, Gatorade, & coaches you hate but appreciate. They live for the way it feels when they beat the other team, and knowing those two extra sprints they ran in practice were worth it. They live for the way they become a family with their team, they live for the countless songs they sing in their head while training all those hours. They live for the competition, they live for the friends, the practices, the memories, the pain, it’s who they are. It's who we are.
Favorite Practice Drill: New Blue New Gold

Why did you choose Trinity?
I wanted a small liberal arts school but I pretty much ended up at Trinity by chance which I think was fate because it’s been great ever since.

What does Trin Lax mean to you?
Trin Lax means being a part of something bigger than myself. I think of Trin Lax as a family that gets bigger every year because each and every person that has been a part of it whether it be players, coaches,  friends, or parents, remains a part of it forever. Every player that joins the team works hard for the team, grows to love the team, and strives towards keeping a tradition of excellence for themselves, for the alumni, and for the future of the program.

Favorite Trin lax memory?
Last spring in Seabury after we had won NESCACs for the first time and were watching the bids for NCAA’s. It was an overwhelming feeling of success, happiness, and I was so happy to be experiencing it with my teammates.

Any advice for your teammates?
Love it while you can because time does really fly

Most Memorable Moment: Sophomore midfielder, Kaitlin Reedy, ended the scoring drought when she scored at the 19:23 mark to make it 9-6. Reedy proved we could score against the Cardinal goalie and win the game.

After Reedy's goal, the Cardinals scored again, but the resilient Bantams responded with back-to-back goals. In a dramatic last five minutes, Hadley Duncan scored to make it 13-9, and sophomore attacker Shea Kusiak scored the tenth, igniting the Bantams rally. Duncan scored again, along with senior co-captain, Liz Bruno.

In a scramble, first-year, Caroline Hayes, forced a turn-over with 36 seconds left on the clock. With a feed from Megan Leonhard, Bruno scored a diving goal to tie the game with 12 seconds left. Off the draw Duncan was fouled. She sprinted down the field, and found the back of the cage for the Bantam win with just 2 seconds left.
